WALKING THROUGH TO AND OUT OF CROWN CASINO MELBOURNE At 7:30AM on an autumn day
• 7:30 AM I Leave Southern Cross Station and walk in a southerly direction along Spencer Street. Upon reaching the railway bridge I follow it in a south easterly direction until I reach king street. (A light rain is falling)
• 7:45 AM I cross king street and then the bridge over the Yarra river all is calm, all is gray and depressing and I take a few shots (still raining have to wipe camera)
• 7:50 AM I walk down onto Southbank an armoured car is parked nearby its occupants sit beneath the bridge having a smoke. The guards stare at me and look concerned. Not sure why they are concerned is it because they are breaching security regulations or because they think I am going to hold up the armoured car. I desperately want to photograph them but decide that they armed and that it would be a provocative act; I photograph the passing crowd of office workers instead. ( its still bloody raining , more camera wiping)
• 7:55 I enter the food court buy Red Bean Balls and am happy to be out of the rain and munch on the balls and do not take any photographs for a few minutes.
• 8:00 AM this place is so boring I decide to walk from one side of Crown Casino to the other walking in a southerly direction. I Walk down a corridor, down escalators and through a gaudy gaming room there are some people here losing money in this fluorescent room.
• 8:10Am I the leave the gaming room and up an escalator and into a series of corridors coloured with blood red and sulphur yellow. The world outside looks positively lyrical when you compare it to these sickly coloured corridors.
• 8:20AM I arrive at some escalators and descend and walk outside into a concrete desert blue and gray . a wonderful world of freeway and high rise blight
