11 Goodall Street HAWTHORN the white room

“Never use pure white; it doesn’t exist in nature.”

Aldro T. Hibbard

White covers a multitude of sins.” — Jonathan Milne

The color white projects purity, cleanliness, and neutrality. Doctors don white coats that are stained with red blood and yellow pus and brown excrement. brides traditionally wear white gowns to symbolise their unsullied condition ( today most have been thoroughly sullied and they still where white). A white picket fence surrounds an old fashioned  and conservative house within a similar urban environment. In Chinese culture White is also the color of mourning. It is associated with death and is used predominantly in funerals in Chinese culture. Ancient Chinese people wore white clothes and hats only when they mourned for the dead.

I was kept locked in that white room, with no contact with the outside world, and with no explanation about what was happening.

Cream – White Room Lyrics
In the white room with black curtains near the station
Blackroof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings
Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes
Dawnlight smiles on you leaving, my contentment
I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines

Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves
You said no strings could secure you at the station
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows
I walked into such a sad time at the station
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning
I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back

Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves
At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes
She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings
I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd;

Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves
