Hawthorn town Hall Aboriginal art garage sale

The Hawthorn town Hall Aboriginal art garage sale held between 02/01/2015 and 04/01/2015. The aim seemed to be to unload on to Melbourne wealthiest suburbs a great quantity of unsalable paintings。 The problem is that many of residents are away at this time of year and those that remain have spent much of their money at Christmas or at the post Christmas sales. The whole exercise had the smell of desperation about it. But I could be mistaking desperation for stupidity. I have to admit that with Australian retail sales being slow, European and American art markets not absorbing the same amount of indigenous art as before and production levels remaining the same a lot of unsalable indigenous art is being produced. Thus people have decided to sell aboriginal paintings in the same way as we have seen people selling new Persian carpets. The problem is that this will in all likelihood further depress the prices of indigenous art.
