Kiama harbour
You walk up
a hill and away from the coast and
through an uninspiring urban area, then Walk down the hill under the railway
line and on to the beach
BOMBO beach is
bounded on one side by the freeway
and railway at the kiama end of the beach there are rocks and at the other end of the
beach is a carpark . People were surfing at the end of the beach, under the watchful
eye of the life savers. From the beach you would never guess that you were a
hundred meters from a busy freeway.
Bombo headland quarry
At the end
of Bombo beach you walk up on to the headland and through a carpark then a mixture
of dusty roads and scrub until you arrive at the old quarry. The quarry according to the broacher is famous
for its Basalt columns which separate the quarry from the sea. On the other side of the quarry
are cliffs and there was also two resident ducks in a puddle.
bombo headland waste water treatment
plant
after
leaving the quarry I start to smell something unpleasant I then find a sealed road a green security fence and little later a sign that reads “Bombo headland waste water
treatment plant” and the front gates. I circumnavigate
the plant until I rich the train
line. At this point I am becoming seriously disappointed with this walk
cathedral rock
not
impressed more rocks no trees and a road
.
Kiama Heights
Beach thin
strip of trees and then urban blight
Minnamurra river pretty but surrounded by further
urban blight and a railway station where I catch the train back to kiama
